Is it strange to message a acquaintance (girl) on facebook at random?

Ok so, I'm not one to usually ask "relationship questions" but I met this girl in cl this past semester that I've chit chatted with and worked on a school project with (college). I have her facebook and would like to follow up and talk to her again but I'm not that good with words sober. Is there a way I could get in contact with her without it being creepy or too odd?
