..........computer help?

I have the same trouble, my computer won't recognize any external drives, it's a plug n play device meaning you should be able to hook to a usb connector on your motherboard and it should work, I think that it's a motherboard problem from the research that i've done on it. you can go into your BIOS and make sure that plug n play devices are enabled, I tried that and mine were, I was also told to run the system file checker which I did and that didn't work, I went into device manager and uninstalled it then rebooted and that didn't work, the only thing I didn't do was flash my BIOS. I figure it's the motherboard and right now I can't afford another one so I just decided to live with it the way it is.btw my usb connector on my media card reader works also and I've tried to connect other media card readers to my computer also and that didn't work.
