I have 4 days to spend in New York City. Quick, name me the must see places...?

Already gonna see a Knicks and Islanders game while down there, I need to try and get toegther a plan to spend the days though. I know of a hell of a lot of things to do there, I just need to know the places I really need to and are worth seeing... I would also like some clarification; some of my friends say the view from the Empire State Building is not worth the money... are they right??
